Back to School Night is Here!

Greetings Parents and Families! We look forward to seeing you TONIGHT for our annual Back to School Night Celebration. Your child's teachers have worked hard to prepare engaging, informational presentations for you. In an effort to eliminate distractions, Back to School Night is an adult-only event. As we "Grow into our Greatness" with "Not a Moment to Waste," we commit to honoring your time by keeping to our one-hour event window. Please arrive on time. Thank you in advance for your support!

Parent Reminders

SCHOLAR LATENESS

Scholar lateness is an area of concern. We need your help! Please ensure that your scholar arrives to school by 8am so that he/she can fully participate in Harambee. After 8:15a, scholars will be marked late. This year we are closely monitoring lateness and will be setting up meetings with parents whose children consistently arrive to school late.

PAYMENTS DUE

All scholars received G.O. Binders (K-2), iLead Binders (3-5) and Passport Binders (6-8) on the first day of school. The cost of each is $10, as outlined on the School Supply lists. If you have not already done so, please send in your child's payment. You will also be able to make payments on Back to School Night.

Meet Our School Social Worker - Ms. Lapsley

Ms. Lapsley was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and received her Master’s in Social Work at Temple University.

As a school social worker at GLA, Ms. Lapsley's primary responsibility is to help address non-academic barriers to learning. This is accomplished through individual and group work with scholars to build skills to address topics such as anger management, building relationships, managing anxiety, building self-esteem and healthy conflict resolution, to name a few. Other opportunities for learning include anti-bullying, social media, and good touch bad touch workshops. Ms. Lapsley also looks for opportunities to include parents in a collaborative effort to address scholars needs and will connect families to outside resources when necessary.
