Dear Mt. Pleasant Elementary Families,

Happy middle of summer! We hope that this email finds you well-rested and staying cool. We are writing to update you on our summer work.

We are in the process of finalizing master schedules and class placements. This information will be available on the Parent Portal during the third week in August. We will send an email to notify you when placements are posted.

We are continuing to hire personnel for support staff roles in each building. Our K-5 interview committee has recommended finalists for the Elementary Assistant Principal role. We are still in need of part-time lunch monitors at the elementary schools. Please reach out if you are interested in serving as a school lunch monitor.

Our custodial teams are busy cleaning and painting our spaces so that they are ready for our students in September. They have been working extremely hard during this sweltering summer. Building repairs and security upgrades are also being completed. Our Hawthorne playground project is beginning this week.

Our Kindercampers and the Town of Mt. Pleasant campers at Columbus are finishing this week.

Bus route information will be posted during the third week in August. We will send a detailed follow up communication regarding how to set your child’s dismissal instructions in School Dismissal Manager after the bus assignments are posted.

Our clerical staff will be returning on August 14th. Please reach out with any questions. Thank you.

Hawthorne families are invited to a Meet and Greet in your child’s classroom on Thursday, August 31st. The Meet and Greet is an opportunity for you and your child to stop by to visit the classroom, meet the teachers and say hello to some new friends.

Please have photo identification ready and proceed to the Memorial Drive Entrance to check in when you arrive.

Kindergarten: 8:30-9:15 a.m.

Grade 2: 9:15-10:00 a.m.

Grade 1: 10:00-10:45 a.m.

Kindergarten teachers will provide students with wristbands at the Meet and Greet. Please be sure to have your kindergarten student wear the wristbands for the first week of school.

If you ordered school supplies through AHartz, they will be delivered to the classroom. If you did not order through AHartz, you may drop the supplies off with the teacher during the Meet and Greet, or send them to school on the first few days.
