STAFF LUNCHEON

This Wednesday we will enjoy our first staff luncheon. Mrs. Wyatt sent out an e-mail last week sharing the theme--football munchies--for our first meal. I know that all of you are great cooks, and I can't wait to sample some of your creative football type of foods that you would share with friends when gathered around the big screen watching 'THE GAME' of the week.

POSITIVE PHONE CALLS = HAPPY PARENTS

Last week, I had the honor of receiving a phone call from a high school teacher about my son. It was a brief call simply sharing she enjoyed having him in class. Yes, my heart is still smiling. I know that many of you have already made a positive call the first week because it was denoted on your phone-logs, and I have had a parent share this with me. (Shout out to Mrs. Long!!!) The challenge is as we get enthralled with the challenges of everyday school life, it is easy to allow these positive phone calls to get at the bottom of our "to-do lists." I challenge you to set a goal to make at least two positive phone calls a week. It lifts your spirits, makes parents proud, and builds great relationships. For those students that act in a manner that causes challenges in the classroom, any 'ray' of light that you can call for a positive remark is important. Otherwise, their parents will stop answering when they see it is the school's number. Positive phone calls create win-win situations!

P.S. If you don't want your picture on the newsletter, don't let me catch you taking a picture :) Love it ladies!

HOMECOMING WEEK ACTIVITIES AND MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO COME.........

I enjoyed seeing all of you participating in the Homecoming week activities. I saw some great "hippies," cowgirls, and of course "rappers." Mrs. Ross has planned some great activities for Red Ribbon week (Oct. 26 - Oct. 30).

Of course all of the 'kinks' have not been ironed out, but I wanted to share with you some of her ideas. The reason I am sharing so early is so that you can begin planning. Please DO NOT share with students. The details ARE NOT finalized. Mrs. Ross will send out all the details as soon as everything is set. Please know these are not set in stone. Just begin to get your creative juices flowing.

  • Monday - Wear red.
  • Tuesday- Give Drugs the Boot! Wear boots or western attire.
  • Wednesday - Dreaming of a drug free world - pajama day
  • Thursday - Being Drug Free Comes in Cans! Wear favorite college t-shirt or college colors. I CAN go to college. We will have a can food drive on this day. A prize for the class that brings the most cans will be sponsored by Mrs. Ross. Also, we will try to get the class' picture in the paper.
  • Friday- Show your positive character. Don't do Drugs! Dress in your favorite children's book character book. No spooky or scary costumes allowed. The students can bring their favorite book with them and share about it.
