Peek at the Week
April 15-19
Wow! What a Busy Week!
And we did it with smiles on our faces and joy in our hearts.
This week we are starting on NWEA testing, TCR , and ILEARN practice testing. We will have data meetings on Tuesday and Thursday, staff meeting on Tuesday, and Tie Dye Day is Friday.
ILEARN REVIEW
ILEARN schedules and student accommodations will be distributed Monday.
You may begin giving the ILEARN practice tests this upcoming week. Rita and Dan suggest that you use give it with your whole class as an instructional, learning opportunity. Go through it together the first time. You can give it as many times as you wish.

Author Visit was a great success!
On April 11, Michelle Nelson Schmidt visited Edgelea. She had a wonderful message to share and was extremely personable and engaging. She came to remind us that we should follow our heart and follow our dreams....NO matter what. Sometimes to get what you want, you might have to do a lot of things you don't like along the way. Follow your dreams. It might be scary. It might be hard. It might even make you cry. You might have to ask for help. You have to find the things that bring you joy. It will feel like magic. You will feel like a light has been turned on inside of you.
Order forms for Michelle Nelson Schmidt's books were placed in mailboxes on Friday. Parents may order online.
Additional Staffing Updates
Congratulations to Ashley Withers. She will become LSC district reading specialist for the 2019-2020 school year. We are thrilled to welcome Rachel Huffer back. She will be joining our 1st grade team. We are so happy that she will be returning to Edgelea. Her daughter Ruby will be joining us for kindergarten.
Joining our fourth grade team which includes Amy Freeman, Macy Smith, Jennifer Banning Sarah Jarrells will be Dorothy Corrie. Dorothy comes to us from Twin Lakes Meadowlawn where she taught 4th grade. The fourth grade team loved her enthusiasm and tech savvy skills. She has 6 years teaching experience.
We welcome Sarah Jarrells. She will be moving to Lafayette from Lexington, KY. She and her husband have a baby daughter named Palmer. She has three years teaching experience and we feel very fortunate to have her joining our team. She is looking for daycare for her daughter. Her baby will be approximately 8 months old in August. Please email her if you have any daycare recommendations for her. sarahejarrells@gamil.com We will be opening an additional resource room to accommodate students with identified special needs. Deb Meadows will be working primarily with K,1, and 2 students. We are happy to announce that Betsy Kissinger will be transferring from Oakland to Edgelea. She will be here full time and will be working primarily with 3rd and 4th grade students. Welcome back home to Edgelea, Betsy!
We are in the process of interviewing and hiring a third grade teacher.
