Students go over a lot of new information this first week back. Check in with your students about school expectations in the classroom, lunchroom, recess and during drop off and pick up times.
We will be announcing the winners of the book fair contest and the paper drive next week!
We hope everyone enjoyed their summers and are looking forward to a fresh new school year!

Title I Presentation
Title I is a federal program that provides financial assistance each year to schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure all students have equitable opportunities to meet challenging state academic standards. At Advantage Arts, part of this funding is used to provide students with additional reading support groups taught by trained reading assistants, as well as the targeted reading curriculum.
Leader In Me Parent Introduction
Advantage Arts Academy is excited to become a Leader In Me (LIM) school. LIM helps our students develop character education skills, by using the Stephen Covey 7 Habits of Highly Effective kids.
We want to work as a team with our families by using the same language from this program. The information meeting will be an introduction into LIM to help our parents know the habits of our character education program and use the same words and phrases to implement in their homes.
Strings Ensemble Club
We are so happy to continue our Strings Ensemble Club (Previously Violin Club) where your student will learn either violin, viola or cello. You can signup today by emailing bmeline@advantagearts.org for grades 3rd thru -6th. The cost will be $40 per semester.
The beginner club will be held on Thursday after school until 4:15pm
The intermediate club will be held both Monday and Wednesday after school until 4:00pm.
Instrument Rental Night Tuesday August 30th, 4:00-6:00 pm in the Library
Summerhays music will visit the school to let your students try out the violin, viola and cello for themselves. Once students know what they want to learn, they are there to help rent an instrument.

Households Must Apply for Free or Reduced-price Lunch by May 6 . To Be Eligible for Pandemic EBT
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah households will need to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits with their local school no later than May 6 to be potentially eligible for pandemic EBT (P-EBT). P-EBT can help individuals purchase food if their children have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price meals due to school closures from COVID-related emergencies, or other COVID-related school absences during the 2021-2022 school year. To qualify for P-EBT, individuals must be signed up for free or reduced-price school meals.
During the 2021-22 school year, all students, regardless of income status, can receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day they attend school.
However, this does not qualify students for P EBT, nor does it automatically give students free-reduced status. To determine the free-reduced status of a student, individuals must apply through their school.
Individuals can find information on how to contact their local school at:
https://www.uah.org/get-help/school-meals.
Please visit jobs.utah.gov/PEBT for more information on the P-EBT program.
