*Threat Management Updates*
READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY!
Some changes have been made to the Threat Management procedures in regards to SST/IEP team meetings. The revisions below were added to all 3 levels of Threat to Self as well as Level 1 of Threat to Others/Property.
"The student involved must be considered for referral to the SST or the IEP Team for development and implementation of interventions and supports as deemed appropriate by the respective team.
- The Behavioral Threat Assessment Team must determine whether or not the referral to SST or IEP team is appropriate or necessary.
- A member of the Behavioral Threat Assessment Team will continue to monitor the student’s progress over the course of the current school year in order to determine if further interventions and supports are needed via SST and/or IEP Team."
*This means that an SST/IEP team is still required for Levels 2 and 3 of Threats to Others/Property.
Who is the Behavioral Threat Assessment Team?
This is the team we spoke about on August 28th. Members include the School Counselor, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, Administrator(s), School Nurse, and Pupil Personnel Worker. It is important that your team collaborates and communicates about students' needs throughout the Threat Management Process.
Concerns about Privacy with regard to SST/IEP meetings about Threats to Self/Others/Property
The Office of Safety and Climate is in the process of working on privacy settings in the SPS so that only members of the Behavioral Threat Assessment Team can view those team notes and confidentiality will be maintained. We will keep you posted on this process.
This information will be communicated to staff via the Weekly Bulletin.

Service Capture Training for School Counselors and NPI/MA Enrollment for LCPC's
The second portion of this class, NPI/MA enrollment is only for LCPC's. Last spring, BCPS added to the job description that if school counselors have an LCPC, we are required to complete the NPI/MA enrollment as a BCPS employee. If you have not done so already, you can either complete this on your own or at this session on September 12th. Contact Jen if you would like the instructions to complete it on your own.
Contact Jen Abbe at jabbe@bcps.org if you plan to attend on September 12th. This class will be capped at 25 people.
