Thank You PTO!!!
We would like to share with you SOME of the many ways PTO has supported our school this year! We can't thank them enough for all of the time and energy they put into our PTO! Here is just a snapshot of what they have given to us this year:
They have volunteered many HOURS of their time planning, setting up, working and cleaning up PTO events!
Our generous PTO has provided the funds to send our MakerSpace to the next level. Thanks to the PTO, we will have new furniture for kids to work at while they engineer, problem solve, and collaborate. This furniture will provide new storage spaces to keep all the “maker materials” tidy. To top it off, PTO has donated three types of robots, two circuit sets, and several other engaging materials that will inspire our students in the MakerSpace. Thank you PTO!
PTO purchased Learning Ally which has already had a huge impact on reading success!
PTO provided 30 ukeleles for the music room this spring. Second-fifth grades have been having a wonderful time learning to play chords and sing along to some of their favorite songs
The PTO has supported the CCE library is MANY ways this year! From funding snacks for Chat ‘n Chew to making money available to buy book rewards for our school-wide reading program to sponsoring all three Book Fairs, our PTO makes reading grow at CCE.
Kids Deserve It books were purchased for every staff member.
Professional development was provided to teachers and admin that will play a part in how we teach and lead for years to come.
5th graders were provided with graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate that allowed them to design solar ovens and make s'mores during their renewable energy unit.
Kindergarten was supported with the money and volunteers that allowed them to enjoy Apple and Farm day. We couldn’t have these enriching, hands-on experiences without the help of our wonderful PTO!
PTO provided Lego League materials and paid their way into the tournament!
A year-long subscription to the weekly Scholastic Let’s Find Out newspapers allowed our kindergarten students to enjoy enriching, colorful articles that enhance our kindergarten curriculum.
PTO provided money to purchase coffee, juice, milk and donuts for our Kindest Kansas Citian reception! It’s one of our very favorite celebrations each year to celebrate kindness and PTO’s financial support allows students and their nominees to have an enjoyable and memorable experience that hopefully encourages even more kindness to flow.
3rd graders were provided the amazing opportunity to experience and enjoy the symphony at the Kauffman Center and explore art at the Newman Museum. This time allowed students to use their art analysis and criticism skills. They all enjoyed seeing art in person and getting to experience the museum environment
3rd grade students were also provided the supplies needed to create products to sell during our Economics ETC.
1st graders were provided with a field trip to attend both Lego Land and the Sea Life Aquarium! What an amazing trip!
They also supported first grade by providing funds for Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Fishers’ classes to publish their books! This helped our students become published authors and they shared their books with their families at a special party!
Two ETC days were funded for 2nd grade. One day was over their studies in matter and one over the pioneers.
PTO also purchased twelve Sphero Robots, two First Lego League Junior Kits, and a yearly BrainPop subscription for 2nd grade. These tools allow them to enhance learning in their classrooms through multi-sensory learning and hands on experiences that teach students teamwork, perseverance, and problem solving skills.
PTO provided fourth grade with interactive science materials for project based learning activities. These materials allow the students to problem solve by trial and error.
THANK YOU TO OUR FABULOUS PTO!!!!!!
ScrapsKC USED School Supply Drive is coming to CCE!
With the help of staff and parents, we are collecting used school supplies that last couple of days of school to donate to ScrapsKC.
ScrapsKC is a non-profit creative ruse center that's mission is to care for KC's environment, education and homeless through creative reuse. During our supply drive, we will not only keep supplies out of our landfills, ScrapsKC will also clean, re-purpose and redistribute these materials for free to teachers in the metro area.
Brenda Mott, the executive director of ScrapsKC says the following:
“We are so thankful for your support and dedication to our school supply drive. This year we are able to give the materials you restored to 165 teachers throughout the metro area. If we calculate the number of teachers served by approximately 25 children per class, that means you have touched 4,125 children who wouldn’t have the necessary tools to succeed in school. The thought of reaching this many kids is astounding as well as heartwarming. ScrapsKC just couldn’t do it with out you.”
