Thank you to Kevin Porter and Allstate for their assistance in helping to make the front of the school safer for everyone. You may have noticed the installation of our first speed hump for protecting those using the crosswalk. Mr. McKinley will be installing one more towards the end of the drive to protect those coming from the playground side to enter the school. Please remember when driving across the front of the school to be patient, drive slowly, pull all the way down and not to pass others.

Congratulations Ms. Hammer!

A HUGE congratulations to Ms. Hammer who was selected as the Region 2 Teacher of the Year for DeKalb County Schools. Region 2 includes all of the schools and centers in the Lakeside, Tucker, Druid Hills and Redan High School clusters. The teacher of the year and support person of the year are elected annually by school staff. They then complete an application to represent the region. Once applications are reviewed along with the principal’s recommendation, interviews are conducted to select the regional winners. Ms. Hammer will be honored on November 14 along with Ms. Edwards and all of the teachers of the year and support personnel of the year from DeKalb Schools and Centers. At the reception they will announce the teacher of the year for the entire district from the five regional winners including Ms. Hammer.
