ACSA 'City of God' STUDY BREAK
@ Hallowed Grounds
Our Last Event of The Quarter is Coming Soon!
Before the dreadful thing that is finals week hits us, ACSA would like to invite you all to come out and chill with us and watch the critically acclaimed (64 award wins, 4 oscar nominations) movie "City of God".
This movie takes place in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and touches on everything, from love, war, and manhood to class, poverty, race, slavery and its legacy.
We also excited to have Professor Daniel Desormeaux from the University of Chicago come and speak to us a bit about these themes, as these touch on his area of study and expertise! He is an Associate Professor of French Literature at the University, and being a native of Haiti, has spent much of his life studying race, gender, slavery, and social/cultural/political conflict.
So if you at all have time, we encourage you to come relax, learn, and be entertained!
***We will be serving rich milk chocolate Hot Cocoa with marshmallows to warm everyone up in this cold weather!!!***
