Special Edition - Tuition Assistance Changes - December 2019
How has the allocation of tuition reimbursement funds changed?
Starting with the 2020-2021 school year, tuition reimbursement funds will be divided into two portions according to course start date.
July 1 through December 31 (“Summer/Fall”) $100,000.00
January 1 through June 30 (“Winter/Spring”) $100,000.00
Within those two portions, the pool of $100,000 will be further divided as follows:
$60,000 Group One
Employees placed at Bachelors or Bachelors +15 in the school year in which the course begins.
$40,000 Group Two
Employees placed at Masters, Masters +15, Masters +30, Masters +45, or Masters + 60 in the school year in which the course begins.
What are the new pre-approval deadlines?
Pre-approvals will be processed, in order of the date and time the fully completed pre-approval form is received by the Personnel Office.
Summer/Fall
Applications for Summer/Fall (start date of 7/1 - 12/31) course pre-approvals will be accepted from April 15 at 4:00 p.m. EST through May 15 at 4:00 p.m. EST. No applications for Summer/Fall course reimbursement will be accepted after May 15 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
Winter/Spring
Applications for Winter/Spring (start date of 1/1 - 6/30) course pre-approvals will be accepted from October 15 at 4:00 p.m. EST through November 15 at 4:00 p.m. EST. No applications for Winter/Spring course reimbursement will be accepted after November 15 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
How will the pre-approval process change?
In January of 2020, you will receive information about how to set up an account with Frontline Central. This account will allow you to access and complete a number of employee forms including the Tuition Pre-Approval and Reimbursement form.
This new process is entirely paperless :) and you will receive instant notification when your application is received and approved. You will never have to wonder where your application is in the process - you will be able to log into the system and "see" where it is!
With any new system, there will be an adjustment period. So, during January through March you will have plenty of time to experiment with Frontline Central and submit a "practice" form so that you are ready to go when the first application window opens on April 15.
