DFES Academic Goals 2015 - 2016
By the conclusion of the 2015-2016 school year 65% of 2nd-5th graders will score met or above on their spring MAP reading goals.
By the conclusion of the 2015-2016 school year homeroom teachers will have received a minimum of 10 hours of environmental sciences professional development to build teacher capacity and to support magnet theme implementation.
Staffing Updates
Mary Ann Ridgeway, our new media center assistant, will officially join our staff Monday, April 4. Please join us in assisting Mary Ann with her transition.
Crystal Silas-Brown, 4K assistant with Mrs. Gentry, has accepted a position at Irmo Middle School. Crystal will join the guidance staff at IMS which will diversify her role, duties, and responsibilities. This opportunity also increases her pay. Crystal has been stellar in her time here at DFES and will continue to do so in her new role which begins 4/11/16. Please join us in thanking Crystal for her contributions and wishing her well in her newest endeavor.
B. Poore out of Office
B. Poore will be out of the office this coming Monday - Wednesday to attend district data team training at Irmo High School. I will be the first point of contact if needed for duties that she is responsible for.
Champions of the Environment TV Commercial
DHEC will visit DFES for filming of the Champions of the Environment TV Commercial. DHEC is featuring all eight Champions in a 60-second commercial. William Gillespy, who created the observation beehive for us and gifted us with the honeybees, will also be featured in the commercial as well.
The Champions Commercial will broadcast from April 20 - April 26 on the following channels:

WHNS (Greenville/Spartanburg)
WMBF (Myrtle Beach/Florence)
WCIV & ECIV (Charleston)

Tag of Honor Ceremonies
Our third nine weeks Tag of Honor Ceremonies will be held this Friday. Homeroom and related areas teachers please inform or communicate with students (by the means that work best for you) the tags they can anticipate receiving. This helps to eliminate surprise on behalf of the students and their parents.
As a reminder all faculty and staff members should utilize rear parking to accommodate the needs of our visitors. This includes the church lot as well.
Jeans can be worn Thursday with DFES spirit wear in light of ceremonies Friday.
