CHARACTER DAY
In an effort to create a culture of kindness at Troy South Middle School, teachers and students are participating in many activities this year. Wednesday, September 13 was Character Day.
Teachers displayed reminders of great character traits throughout the day. Students and staff were given kindness cards and asked to do a random act of kindness. They will be encouraged to pass along a kind deed and keep the movement going - pay it forward! They could leave their kindness card as a reminder of their kind deed. For more information, you may visit: http://wakeupproject.com.au/kindness-cards/

NURSE NOTES
Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.
The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.
All current 7th graders will need record of the Tdap as well as the MCV vaccine before the start of 8th grade. If your child has had these vaccinations, please send in an updated record with your student to the office.

TECH TIPS
Hello Titan Families!
As the school year gears up, it’s a good idea to continue those conversations with your child about digital citizenship. At school, your student is earning his/her Digital Driver’s License. Just as motorists take driver’s education to learn how to recognize and react to road situations, digital age students need a course in how to navigate precarious situations online, such as cyberbullying and copyright infringement. The “license” is a set of scenarios, or cases, designed to expose students to crucial concepts and build their skills in the nine elements of digital citizenship. The content covers a broad range of topics, such as digital communications, etiquette, security, commerce, law, media fluency, and health and wellness.
We encourage you to use some of the resources below to perpetuate conversations with your child about online safety and security. Together we can work to create a safer digital world for our students.
