Superintendent Update
It's a Great Day in the School District of Beloit
December 19, 2021
Message from our Superintendent Dr. Dan Keyser
Winter break is finally here! I hope you and your family will find time to relax, unplug, and enjoy the next two weeks. Take some time to make new memories and honor and keep those traditions that mean the most to you and your family.
As I reflect on the beginning of this school year, I am most proud of our students and their adaptability and resilience as we continue to navigate this pandemic. It has been so nice to see our students participating in activities, concerts, sporting events, art programs, and more. With your unwavering support and collaboration for you child's/teen's education and well-being, we are, once again, thriving in an in-person learning environment.
This season is also a time to extend thanks and gratitude to our many community partners and volunteers. Our partners and volunteers continue to reach out and extend resources, support, and encouragement to our students and families.
I look forward to seeing our students back in our buildings on Monday, January 3. I plan to be out in our buildings that day, greeting and welcoming our students back. Our staff and I are committed to continuing the progress and momentum we started at the beginning of the school year in helping your child/teen reach their full potential.
Enjoy your winter break. Together we are stronger.

Let's Talk Winter Weather
Winter weather is upon us, and that takes a little planning.
What to Wear to School: Our elementary and intermediate students should come to school with winter coats, hats, scarfs, mittens/gloves, and boots. All elementary and intermediate students will have recess as long as the temperature is 10° or above. If the temperature drops below 10° all students will have indoor recess.
If your student is in need of winter gear, please reach out to your school's student services team.
School Closings: While we will make every effort to keep our schools open throughout the school year, situations such as severe weather may make it necessary to close schools for the overall safety of our students and staff. If weather conditions require that we close our schools, you will receive notification via voice, text, and email. Please ensure that your contact information is updated and accurate in Skyward. In addition to voice, text, and email, we will send a push notification to our SDB App, update the phone lines at each school, post on Facebook, and alert local media stations.
Update from our Director of School Health
Our on-site COVID-19 testing at our school buildings are closed during winter break. We resume our on-site testing on Monday, January 3. If you or a family member need a COVID-19 test during winter break, please access the Rock County COVID-19 Testing Information.
Families traveling internationally over winter break must complete this form if their children are unvaccinated.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me or your school health staff.
