eLearning November Update
Delta College
Winter Course Release
KNOWMIA CREATION ENDED NOVEMBER 5TH
You are no longer be able to create new content in Knowmia. The content has all been exported at this point and YuJa is working on uploading.
You will still have access to existing Knowmia content through spring/summer semester. After this, the Knowmia site will be shut down and existing links to content will not work. Once your videos have been transferred, please work on updating links in D2L to be YuJa links.
Access to updated YuJa links is anticipated to be available in February at the earliest.
If you would like to complete the process manually ahead of this date, you can download and upload content yourself using this video as a guide. However, once the migration process is complete you will have duplicate videos in your library so changing the name on manual uploads is recommended.
It's recommended that you swap links AFTER winter semester. You won't have access to the new YuJa links to do it before winter semester unless you manually upload and switching mid semester can mess up analytic and grading data.
Learn YuJa
Log in to YuJa, the new software that will replace Techsmith Knowmia (Relay). The platform is already available for everyone to begin creating new content now. Training sessions will be held throughout the semester.

Teaching Tip Spotlight
Stress-less Teaching
1.Integrate some play into your class time
- Use one of these 5 minute games to break up a lecture
- Play can be content-related. For example: have students pantomime the consequences of poor environmental practices or use their body to show the answer to a math problem
2. Have students provide feedback to each other instead of you
- Providing feedback is a high-level thinking skill that requires the student to really know the content, this strategy is actually helping to reinforce learning
- Don't use this strategy all the time, because students still expect to receive feedback from the instructor, but they don't need it from you every time
3. Take 5 minute wellness breaks during class
- Use one of these activities to build relationships, activate the brain, or check in with students. (Many of these activities align with the new FI4S initiative.)
- Take a walk down the hallway and have a sip of water
- Step outside and experience fresh air
4. Set an Intelligent Agent to work for you
- Did you know you can automate reminder emails to students? Check out the guide and templates to learn how to set one up.
5. Meet with an Instructional Designer
- Designers help you identify the most important parts of your course and narrow your focus
- One hour-long workshop session can greatly reduce the amount of work each semester
