Dear Husmann Parents & Guardians,
What an exciting end of the month we had! Not only was our March PBIS Assembly today, but the Chicago Blackhawks took over our school! Back to back assemblies were quite a treat!
Our whole school was decked out in Blackhawks attire! Each of our rooms and hallways looked amazing! Our creative staff and students put a ton of effort into their own unique display honoring not only the Blackhawks, but one another, and all of their efforts this year working as a class to be safe, responsible and kind. The Blackhawks staff members then voted on which door was the winning classroom (to be announced).
The winning classroom(s) will get to experience a skating party on the same rink that the Chicago Blackhawks practice on! The First Stride Skate party in Chicago will be fully funded by the Blackhawks! In addition to transportation to/from, and skating, lunch will be provided by Jersey Mike's! Stay tuned for more information to learn if your child's class won!
Spring break is also here! Whether you are traveling near or far, or staying home, we hope that you enjoy the extra time with your family and friends. We look forward to seeing everyone back at Husmann in April!
Your Partners in Education,
Mr. Sromek & Ms. Fitzgerald
Congratulations to Rumi Hoot!

2023 5Essentials Parent Survey
The 5Essentials parent survey, administered online by UChicago Impact, is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of schools and to help school districts understand the conditions at each school to help guide improvement. D47 parents are encouraged to take the survey for their child's school by visiting https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/. Parent identity and survey responses will be kept confidential and will not be connected to their student(s). Families can submit one survey for each child. 2022-23 Calendar: Last Day of School
An updated 2022-23 calendar will be posted on the D47 website after spring break. District 47 waits to post an updated calendar until winter has passed as any updates to the calendar must be re-submitted to and approved by the state. The current calendar includes five emergency days; so far, one emergency day has been used due to the ice storm on February 23. As of today (3/21/23) the last days of school will be Tuesday, May 30 (grades 1-8) and Friday, May 26 (Kindergarten and Wehde) assuming no additional emergency days are used.
School Board Election Guide for Parents
The D47 Parent Group Advisory Council (made up of D47 PTO/PTA representatives) have collectively created a fact sheet for D47 parents about the upcoming school board election on April 4, 2023. This fact sheet is intended to inform parents about the candidates running for open school board positions and provides an explanation of the roles and responsibilities of school board members.
