Actor's Showcase

On Tuesday evening, the Advanced Drama class showed off their skills for parents and fans with a showcase of acting, song, and dance. There were 14 numbers involving 28 actors/actresses and 8 stage crew. Students performed as solos, pairs, trios, or quads in various musical theater vignettes. The night ended with a musical number by the entire cast. Great job Mrs. Brock and Advanced Drama students!

12 Days of GRITmas...Continued

This week was a huge week of Gratitude here at Dwyer! Students rose to the occasion of the challenges they were given. The bins of historical costumes have been filling up all week. We will continue to take them next week in the office as well. Students bought an astounding 2,202 holiday grams to share good cheer with others around them! We have also been hearing so much positivity among students and staff with thoughtful compliments to each other. The GRITmas tree is filled with orange ornaments!

Next week we will focus on Responsibility and Integrity. The Responsibility challenges, taking place Monday through Wednesday, are completing a chore at home without being asked, volunteering in a classroom or outside of school, and cleaning up our campus during lunch by picking up at least 10 pieces of trash. The Integrity challenges, taking place from Thursday through Monday, are Operation Santa Claus (bring an unwrapped toy for a child in need), organize your bedroom or your backpack without being asked, and go without your phone (other than parent contact) for 24 hours. That will be a hard one, but will have a great payoff!

TUPE Photo Contest

As part of Dwyer's TUPE (Tobacco Use Prevention Education) program, we invite all students to participate in this photo contest. The California Tobacco Control Program’s (CTCP) invites you to enter the annual Tobacco’s Toxic Impact in My Community Photo Contest. The purpose of the contest is to raise awareness about the impact that tobacco use and vaping has on California communities. The contest will highlight images submitted by Californians that “tell the story” about the negative impact that tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, have on youth and local communities.. The contest runs from February 25- March 22, 2019 and there are prizes to be awarded. See here for the 2019 Photo Contest Rules and Requirements.
