Edmond Public Schools Launches Mobile App to Keep Community Informed and Involved
Edmond Public Schools has launched an official mobile app designed to enable parents, staff, and students to stay informed and up-to-date on important issues, information, and activities underway within the school community. The free app is available for download in the Apple and Android app stores by searching for Edmond Public Schools.
The app features push notifications so that users may be notified about important events, announcements, and news in real-time. Users have the ability to choose which of the district’s schools they would like to follow, making their app experience personal and school-specific.
Key features include:
· Push messaging from both the district and school sites
· News
· Google Calendars
· Online grade book and attendance
· Lunch Menus
· Athletic Information
· Language Translations
The mobile app replaces the district's previous app, SchoolWay, which abruptly ceased operations last summer. The app was developed in cooperation with Intrado, provider of School Messenger solutions.

8th Graders Attend OK National Memorial
Parents of 8th Grade Students,
During the week of March 9-13, our 8th grade elective team will be teaching a unit on the events of April 19, 1995. We will wrap up our unit by taking a field trip to the OKC National Memorial at the end of the week. Team Champion will take their field trip on March 12. Team Eclipse will take their field trip on March 13.
Students were given a permission slip at school Monday, and an extra copy is attached to this email. Please return the permission slip along with $5.00 by Friday, March 6. $5.00 pays for one student's admission to the Memorial. If you wish to send more than $5.00 to help cover the cost of another student, we will happily accept that donation.
Students will also need to bring money for lunch at Quail Springs Mall the day of the field trip. If you need to request a sack lunch, please email your child's 2nd hour teacher this week.
This is a meaningful and rewarding field trip, and we are all looking forward to sharing this Cheyenne tradition with your children.

District Policy regarding Personal Devices
We expect personal devices to be off and out of sight for the duration of the school day. Chromebooks have eliminated the need for supplementing with personal devices. In remaining consistent with our middle school practice, devices will be allowed before the first school bell at 7:40 and after the last bell at 2:40. We recognize that personal devices are part of the everyday world that we live in as well as our future, and know the incredible capability that today’s technology brings to our life. For young adolescents, it also presents many challenges. Recent research is now showing that middle school-aged students are spending an average of 4.5 hours a day on their personal devices. That number increases to 8 hours a day by the high school years. As educators and parents we see how many of our kids are immersed on social media platforms, gaming, mass(sometimes hidden) communications and other varieties of content consumption. For a great many students this creates social-emotional and/or academic challenges during school, in addition to the challenges from an instructional point of view. We are seeking to increase classroom engagement and reduce outside distractions, and we appreciate your support in this transition. If you need to get an urgent message to your child, we will be happy to help in that communication from the office.
