Book Donations

In memory of Principal Susan Jordan, FCI will be collecting new or gently used books for the Amy Beverland library. Donations are completely voluntary. You may send your books in with your child or they may be dropped off at our office location between 7:30am and 3:30pm (M-F). We will collect books through Wednesday, Feb. 3rd.

Thank you in advance for your heartfelt contribution during an extremely difficult time for the entire Lawrence Township School District.

FCJH Connection - 6th grade

Parents/Guardians of future Fall Creek Junior High Falcons,

Representatives from Fall Creek Junior High will be at FCI the afternoon of Monday, February 8 to meet with current 6th grade students about junior high scheduling. Guidance counselors will talk about available classes and the scheduling process. Elective teachers will also be available to discuss their classes and answer any student questions. Please look for the information your student brings home that day.

The Falcon Connection (6th grade parent night) will be held that evening, Monday, February 8 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm @ FCJH. You and your child are invited to come learn about options for advanced classes and available electives, as well as opportunities for clubs and athletics, volunteer with the PTO, order spirit wear, tour the building, and even buy some popcorn from the student run concession stand!

We look forward to seeing you at the Falcon Connection on Monday, February 8th!

Transportation Safety

At FCI, we are constantly monitoring safety for our students and staff. In light of the recent incident in our neighboring district, both the district and FCI are reviewing transportation safety.

Parents/guardians can assist in transportation safety the following ways:
  • Only drop off students at the curb via the car line.
  • If students arrive after school starts at 7:35am, parents must walk students into the office and check them in.
  • Drop off students at Door 1 (front door) only beginning at 7:25am when there is a staff member out here to direct traffic.
  • Drop off club students may enter the door 1 beginning at 7:00am. Clubs that begin before 7am will need to enter door 2 (cafe).

Lost & Found

Please check the lost and found table- it is overflowing. Unclaimed items will be donated February 5. Your children walk by it everyday on the way to recess. I f they are missing any items have them stop by and take a look!

Breakfast on 2 Hour Delay Days

We will now be serving/offering breakfast to our students on two-hour delay days. Students can begin being served at 9:15. Students will be dismissed from their buses to go to the cafe'.

Student Council Meeting

Our next meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 10th, 2016 from 6:55-7:25am. Attendance is very important because there is very little time to get a lot accomplished. The remaining meeting dates are; Feb. 24th, March 9th, 23rd, April 13th, 27th, May 11th , and 25th.

A huge "Thank you!" to all the families that contributed to the food pantry drive. We ended up with more than 4300 items. The excitement and friendly competition between the class rooms was fun to see! We know what a crazy time of year it is so we really appreciate your efforts.

Notes from Nurse Weber

Fifth Grade Parent/Guardian:

The Indiana State Department of Health requires additional immunizations for students in 6th grade. These requirements will apply to your current 5th grade student for the next school year. Even though your student is up to date for this school year, two additional vaccines are necessary for entry into 6th grade. Your child will be eligible for the immunizations when they are eleven years of age.

Completing these immunizations during the school year is your best option as physician’s offices and health departments are extremely busy during the summer months. The state required 6th grade immunizations are as follows:

· One meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine

· One Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) booster

The state requires the school to have documentation that every student entering 6th grade has received the state required vaccines prior to the start of school. After your child receives the required 6th grade vaccines, please send a copy of the updated immunization record to Fall Creek Intermediate.

Updated immunization records can be emailed, faxed, mailed, or hand delivered to Fall Creek Intermediate, Attention Jamie Weber/School Nurse. Please contact Jamie Weber/School Nurse at jweber@hse.k12.in.us with any questions or concerns.

Notes From the FCI Library Media Center

Happy New Year! It's a great time to review Digital Citizenship! Last week in the library 5th grade classes learned about the 9 Ps of Digital Citizenship and this week 6th grade classes are talking about it. Ask your children what these mean and why they are important: Password, Privacy, Personal Information, Photographs, Property, Permission, Protection, Professionalism, and Personal Brand.

Child Find Information---RTI

What to do if you suspect a disability/Child Find:

If your child is age 2 ½ through 21, attends any school within the Hamilton Southeastern Schools boundaries or you live in our community, and you suspect your child may have a disability, you should contact us for more information.

  • For children at least two and a half years of age, but not yet age-eligible for kindergarten, you should contact the Early Childhood Assessment Team at Brooks School Elementary School, 915-4250.
  • For students who are eligible for kindergarten through age 21, you should contact your child’s teacher, school counselor or building administrator to discuss your concerns and explore the steps to be taken. If your child is not enrolled in public school, you should contact the counselor or building administrator in the building your child would attend if enrolled.

Response-to-Instruction (RtI)

RtI is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs, and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.
