Conferences
It's that time of year! Apples, Pumpkins, Colts football, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and conferences! Here is the link to sign up for a conference time. Each time slot is 15 minutes. We will go over NWEA,start of the year data and what I'm seeing in the classroom thus far. Of course, any questions you have will be priority as well. I will be taking down the online sign up tomorrow evening in effort to prepare. Thank you!
Bicentennial Torch Field Trip
We have some exciting news! On October 13, we will be attending the Bicentennial Celebration when the torch comes through Lincoln Park from 12-2:15. We would love to take three adults so if you would like to help chaperone from 11:30-2:30, please let me know.
Jog-A-Thon
It's almost time to turn in those pledges for the early bird drawing! The big day is this Wednesday, September 28. We will run in the afternoon so sunscreen and tennis shoes will be important to have. The goal is for each child to collect $50 which all come back to Union to purchase fantastic things for our school! A water bottle will be coming home to fill up with water and ice on Wednesday. Feel free to decorate them with stickers, pictures, or ribbon to distinguish them quickly. The Jog-a-thon shirts will be given to the students Wednesday morning. After we run, the Kona Ice truck will be here for a fun treat. We are looking forward to a great event!
Family Friday
This year, our school will be doing something new for lunch every now and then. Instead of eating as a fourth grade, first-fourth will be intermixing for Family Friday! We will have recess from 12-12:30 and lunch from 12:30-1:00 on this day. Our students are such amazing leaders, they will be working with Miss Wetzel this week as to how to facilitate conversations with the younger Union Stars.
Cardinals
On Tuesday, November 22, we will continue our celebration of Indiana by sewing cardinals in class! It would be helpful to have five parents here to help a small group of students thread needles and to help the students as they sew. I believe we will be doing this in the morning between 10:30 and 12:30. Please let me know if you are interested!
Multiplication Facts
This week, your child was given access to Xtra math, an online program to help improve math fact skills! The website is www.xtramath.com. The login and password should be taped inside of the planner so your child can do this at home or in school. I have also finished the math fact interviews so next week your child will be working on memorizing five multiplication facts at a time. The facts they showed to have mastered will not be sent home. My goal is for each child to know their math facts by Winter Break. I promise, it will make life in math so much easier! Please work on these facts at home. Just a note that two websites are located at the bottom of the newsletter for easy access to math websites.
REMIND 101
Another way for me to keep in touch is the use of remind 101. Many times I will just send a text reminder instead of an email. To sign up for 2016-17 Parents notifications, please visit
If you already have the Remind101 app, you can search for my class or use @cdc79.
