This Week at Gateway
Gateway Regional Community Newsletter-January 10, 2021
Principal's Message
Both students in the building and at home will be logging into their classes to meet with speakers who will provide an overview of their career field, share their work environments as well as provide background on the road they took to their current positions. Students should attend each period Google classroom as per usual to obtain the special Zoom link for the day.
As usual, we ask that students turn on their camera/video for the speakers. These business leaders have volunteered their time to be with us today and would really appreciate the visual feedback from the audience. They would much rather see faces than blank screens.
Many of our Career Day volunteers end up hiring our students as interns. So now is a good time to start networking with them by being interested, and involved during the presentations.
As in years past on Career Day, students will be dismissed at noon and teachers will not be holding office hours during the afternoon of January 12th. We look forward to this informative day and ask students to remember to have their Chromebooks fully charged.

COVID-19 Guidelines
We received guidance from the Department of Health as our county has been reclassified in the high risk/orange category. This category has new restrictions and new responsibilities for both schools and parents. There are a few important areas that have changed:
- Any individual with COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and contact their healthcare provider. These symptoms are listed on the daily health screening you complete
- If someone in your household is sick or being tested for COVID-19 due to illness, students should stay home until the test result is received.
- Siblings of a student who has symptoms and meets criteria should be excluded from school until the symptomatic individual receives a negative test result.

Career Day-January 12, 2021!
Seniors Helping Seniors
For example, Mr. and Mrs. Smith from Woodbury Heights need their patio furniture moved into their garage for the winter. They can call or email the school and the coordinator will return their call and make arrangements. The coordinator will assemble a group of students and make arrangements for transportation to the Smiths' home and accompany the seniors.
This program is designed for the students to give back to the community and the senior citizens to get help with projects that may be difficult for them to handle without assistance. Everything will be done with consideration to COVID-19 protocols. Please feel free to share information about the Seniors Helping Seniors initiative with those in the community that benefit from the program.
To participate or with any questions or comments please reach out to Cindy Norton at Gateway (cnorton@gatewayhs.com).
