Longhorn Stampede

2018-19: Leading the Herd (1)

Big picture

Welcome Back, Longhorns!

Lone Star Families,
Please read all the way through to the end of this newsletter. It contains an exciting piece of information just for you!

We can't wait to see your smiling faces at Meet the Teacher this week! Remember that if you will be walking your child to class on the first day, you will want to drop your license off so we can run your V-soft sticker while you walk around. Pick up your tag on the way out, and you will be able to skip the long line on Day 1!

Walking your children back:
Any/Every Day - All parents may walk to the Hug&Kiss zone in the foyer, and children will continue past the hallway doors on their own (We always have staff in the hallways to help!)
Day 1 (August 21) - All grades; parents must have visitor sticker
Days 1-3 (August 21, 22, 23) PK and Kdg; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker
Days 1-5 (August 21, 22, 23, 24, 27) PK; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker

PK & K - no lunch visitors during Week 1, please.

Thank you! This helps us ensure that staff attention is focused on children and safe protocols are in practice.

Meet Your Teacher: Mrs. Crosby

Welcome Lone Star Longhorns!!

I want to welcome you to Kindergarten at Lone Star Elementary. I am so excited to meet all of the new faces that will walk through our doors this year. My name is Kim Crosby and this will be my fifteenth year in education. I have worked at Lone Star previously for eight years and am delighted to return to teach kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year.

I have three wonderful boys, a 20 year old son Cole who will be attending Belmont University and two 16 year old twins, Caden and Cooper, who will be attending Lake Creek High School this fall. My husband Rodney and I have been married for 26 years.

When I’m not at school I love spending time with my family and friends, being involved in my church, playing with my Goldendoodle “Harold”, riding horses, gardening, snow-skiing, and reading.

Education is my passion and I am so happy to be working with our youngest learners this year. Again, I look forward to meeting you and your little one and am looking forward to working together throughout the year to ignite a love for learning in each of our kindergarteners.

One important note: My meet the teacher times will be different than the rest of the school because I will be leaving Friday morning to take my son to college. You can come and visit and drop off supplies in my room on Thursday, August 16th from 3:00-4:00 or Friday, August 17th, from 9:00-10:00 – regardless of your alphabet letter. I will be leaving for the airport at 10:00 on Friday morning but didn’t want to miss the opportunity to meet each of you.

See you soon!

Mrs. Crosby

Parents, please feel free to email a picture of your child and a few sentences about them to your child's teacher in response.
