Principal's Message

April 2023

Dear YCES Tiger Families,

I hope your family's spring break was relaxing and full of adventures. As our flowers start to bloom, so do our students in the spring. It is so fun to watch them grow and celebrate all their hard work this year.

We are heading into the season where our students get to show us all that they have learned this year. We will be doing our Spring Reading Dibels Assessment, Math iReady Assessment, and our 3rd Grade will get to take the SBAC State Assessment. We will be having a 3rd Grade Test Pep assembly on Friday, April 7th, at 1:45. Please join us in celebrating our 3rd Graders!

Calling all 5 year olds!! We will be welcoming our little tigers at our kindergarten round-up on April 27th from 4-6pm. Please pass on this information to all families with a 5 year old or 5 by September 1st! We can’t wait to meet all of our little tigers!

Thank you,

Amanda Dallas

US Flag Presentation

On Tuesday, March 7th our first graders welcomed a few of our local Lions Club members as well as the Carlton Police Department into our building. They shared with our first graders about what the US flag stands for and all the different parts of the flags and what they all stand for. They also talked about past designs of the US flag and also shared a little about our armed forces that work to protect us and keep us safe.

Each student was given a small US Flag and a brochure (see pictures below) with information about their flags. Our first graders and staff enjoyed the small presentation and we look forward to having them back next year.
