NEWS & INFO @ ALTA VISTA
GATES, LOCKS, AND KEYS
As I mentioned on Monday, your classroom key should be able to lock and unlock any of the new gates. To exit, you only need to push the bar on the gate, but you need a key to open a gate from the outside, in the evening, or on the weekend.
STAFF MEETING CANCELLED
Tuesday's staff meeting is cancelled. I will share any urgent or important updates with you via email. Our next meeting is on February 12th.
LOCKDOWN DRILL
Because the District is still waiting for delivery of the red straps, I have cancelled our Lockdown Drill. Instead, on January 28th at 8:30, we will be doing a fire drill. Please feel free to let your students know about the drill, if you feel that is best for your class. I realize that due to RtI, you may have students that are not part of your homeroom, but this will be good practice for students to listen to someone other than their usual teacher. I will reschedule the Lockdown Drill as soon as we have the straps installed.
THE GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE WEEK
The Great Kindness Challenge Week begins on January 28th. Alta Vista will join classrooms around the globe in focusing on kindness - on our campus and in our community. I know that many of you have wonderful and thoughtful ideas planned. I'm sure that others are still planning their events. Last week, Michael Stock shared the link to the Teacher Resources Document that is full of ideas and activities. Please use this document to share your ideas with Alta Vista. If you include date and time details, I'll be sure to pop in on the fun. We'll be documenting our many acts of kindness on Twitter. If you post a picture, please use the hashtags #GreatKindnessChallenge and #USDLearns. Don't forget, you can also earn a special badge in Union BELL.
