Did You Know?
The Akron fieldhouse was built in 1965 along with the new school at that time. In its early years of existence, the fieldhouse was used for animal shows, hosting concerts, and indoor track meets. For the first ten plus years the floor in the fieldhouse was a dirt and tan bark floor. The wood basketball floor was put together like a big puzzle and chalk lines were run for indoor track meets. The floor was eventually turned into a rubber tartan floor that lasted for thirty plus years, and indoor track meets were still conducted in the fieldhouse during the 1980s, 90s, and early 2000s. The fieldhouse was then remodeled in 2011 with the building of the new PK-12 building that was completed in 2012. The fieldhouse remodel included the installation of a beautiful new wood floor and two Akron Ram blue composite courts, as well as a remodel of the connecting locker rooms. Today, the fieldhouse is the hub of activity in the community hosting not only numerous athletic events, but music programs, assemblies, community speakers, annual meetings, and graduations to name a few. The fieldhouse has always allowed for flexibility with events and continues to be a source of pride for the school and community.
HS students/parents
It's crazy to think that it's the end of the 1st semester already! At the beginning of 2nd semester, students have the opportunity to switch their classes, if it fits with their schedule. The window will be the first week back from January 3rd-January 5th. After the 5th, no schedule changes will be allowed. A copy of the 2022-2023 schedule is available on the website. Students that would like to change their schedules will need to see Mrs. Weers.
