Malware
How You Can Avoid It by Andrew Morrison
What is Malware?
Malware is intentional bad software made by jerks to mess up your computer. Why? No one knows. Some people are just mean! This bad software can alter files in your computer so it doesn't run as well or doesn't run at all.
Examples of Malware
Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, adware, scareware, and other malicious programs. Most active malware threats are worms or trojans rather than viruses. A lot of these programs are downloaded on your computer when you click on a funny video on facebook or twitter. Others are pop ups that tell you that your computer may be dangerously infected with a virus.
How Can You Avoid Malware?
Antivirus Software
Be sure to have good antivirus software installed on your computer. Let it update everyday.
Firewall
Be sure you have a firewall up and running on your computer. This will alert you if a program online is trying to access your computer's files.
Common Sense
Don't download email attachments from people you don't know. Don't download programs from internet sites you are not familiar with.
