HOMECOMING WEEK! GO LAKERS!
1st WAVES WINNERS OF THE YEAR!
BUS TICKET WINNERS! Keep showing WAVES on the BUS too!
WAVES prizes- Donations accepted
Students at LODL are off to a wonderful start this year: they have already earned hundreds of WAVES tickets for making positive choices! Last Friday morning, we had our first WAVES ticket drawing. Students were so excited to have their WAVES ticket drawn and pick a prize!
To help keep the enthusiasm alive, we need your support. If you are able to help provide small prizes for our students, that would be absolutely amazing. After talking with some students, here are some items they would love to see as prizes:
- Water bottles
- LODL t-shirts/sweatshirts
- Notebooks or sketch pads
- Rubix Cubes
- Squeeze toys
- Gift cards
Thank you in advance for your help and support. Donations can be dropped off at the main office. Together, we can make LODL a positive place for students.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH!
We are so excited to celebrate students and classes that are showing WAVES at LODL! Each month teachers will select a Student of the Month to showcase a student who goes above and beyond to show that they are a Worker, Accountable, Value Everyone and are Safe in their classrooms. They will be announced at our monthly All School Meetings, given an award, and a gift certificate for a free meal at Cane's. Additionally, our specialists will also be picking a Class of the Month! The winning classes will be announced at our All School Meetings, given an award and a popcorn party.

Dearest LODL Families,
I honestly can't believe it is October next week! Where did the first 4 weeks of school go? Our school year is off to a fabulous start! Our teachers have done a tremendous job of setting up positive and welcoming classroom communities - which are the bedrock for a successful school year.
Next Tuesday, October 3, I will be sharing our La ola del lago State of the Schools Update at the beginning of the first LODL PTC (Parents, Teachers and Children Committee) at 6:00 in the media center. This is open to all LODL families. In the presentation, I will be highlighting some of our district's and initiatives, as well as La ola del lago specific goals. One of the areas LODL will be laser focused on during the 2023-24 school year are some of the Opportunities for Improvement we received from the 2022-23 Studor Stakeholder Family Caregiver Survey Results
"I receive positive phone calls, emails, or notes about my child from the school" was a specific area of focus that we are committed to improving over the 2023-24. If you are interested in learning more, please consider attending. For those not able to come, a link to a recorded version of the state of the schools will be sent out mid next week.
This effort to improve our communication with families is our collective commitment at LODL to continuing to be the best we can to partner, as we all know that the home / school connection is paramount for a prosperous school year.
Our LODL theme for the school year is "We are ALL in this together." We truly mean ALL! :)
If you have any questions, I am always happy to hear from you. I can be reached directly at 952-226-0303 or email@example.com.
Have a great weekend!

Notice on Breakfast:
We are thrilled to be able to offer free universal breakfast for all K-5 students this school year. Please remind your child that if she or he would like to get breakfast in the morning, they should report to the cafeteria immediately upon arriving at school off the bus or from parent drop off. We really want to ensure students are in their classrooms as close to 9:20 for the start of the instructional day.

New School Safety Features
Recently Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools partnered with the Department of Homeland Security to conduct assessments at our schools called, “Security at First Entry” or “S.A.F.E.” There were several supportive findings affirming the many safety measures we have in place in our schools.
One recommendation we have implemented from the assessment includes adding an extra layer of security at school entrances. All main office doors are now locked and are equipped with a doorbell to alert office staff when a visitor is present.
The doorbell is a temporary feature as we work to complete the S.A.F.E. project improvements by ensuring all main entrances have automatically locked exterior and office doors, an intercom system to allow communication for office staff with visitors and an electronic lock-release for office staff use.
In addition, we will continue to use our visitor management system for all visitors requesting access beyond the front office/check-in area.
Thank you for your patience as we work to install these important features for the safety of our students, staff and visitors.
