The Weekly Update
Week of 10/30/23
Happy Halloween week, everyone!
I remember it was always a dreaded "day after" Halloween teaching a classroom full of students, so having Halloween on a Tuesday definitely makes it hard to start the week of strong. If you're into trick or treating, have fun, and make sure to take it easy and give your kids plenty of grace the next day, and the rest of the week. My kids are going to be Ahsoka Tano, the Mandalorian, and Baby Yoda (yes, I know the name is Grogu, but Baby Yoda sounds way more cute on my almost 2 year old, lol).
Please read over the information below carefully- got something due Friday! Let me know if you have any questions.

Additional $700 Grant
Many of you may remember last year the additional $700 grant funds that students were offered to purchase curriculum, technology, and/or tutoring. Well, the $700 is being offered again this year! The funds will drop December 1, the same day as the funds drop of regular remaining funds for the year.
Many families purchased tech last year, which was the easiest way to spend it without having to keep track. A few families had to scramble a bit to figure out ways to spend the money since tech was not needed. This year, since we have the tech bundles being offered without the use of funds, it might get tricky to find ways to spend the $700 this year.
*I will be sending out an email today explaining further details regarding the tech bundles and also a funds planning sheet that I will be sharing with you this week, so be on the lookout for that! We will chat about this at our LP3 meeting, and if it makes things easier, I am able to opt you out of receiving the extra funds if there isn't anything within those categories you could spend $700 on.
IXL
For students who want to participate in the October challenge or any challenge in the months to follow must complete the diagnostic assessment FIRST (which was actually the September challenge). I've had a couple students logging on and answering questions (which is great!) but it won't count without the diagnostic assessment being completed first. There is one for math and one for language arts.
The challenge for November is to answer 50 science questions.
If you are having trouble logging in, let me know, and I would be happy to help you!
