Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day - January 18, 2021 - NO SCHOOL
This trip was nothing short of inspirational for me, and I can't help but reflect on that experience today, which is Dr. King's birthday. I am remembering one of his famous quotes that continues to resonate with me in my personal and professional life. Dr. King stated, "the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
There is plenty of challenge and controversy to go around these days. It has been and continues to be a very tough school year. However, in times of challenge and controversy, there are opportunities to be compassionate and supportive of one another, even when we disagree. This is the foundation for how we move forward into the future.
Please join me in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by reflecting on his legacy and all that he represents. Thank you, Dr. King!
Revised Plan for Supporting Quarantined Students
Mr. Keith Clair
At this time, the Hixson staff is collecting a love offering in support of Mr. Clair's family. When I sent my email to parents on Tuesday, some of you responded with your condolences and asked how you could help Hixson support his family during this difficult time. If you would like to contribute to the love offering, please do so through one of the methods included below. Our librarian, Gail Tumminello, is in charge of collecting the funds. We will make the donation to Mr. Clair's family on Friday, January 22, 2021.
Venmo: @Hixson-Courtesy
Paypal: paypal.me/HixsonSocialCourtesy
Zelle: tumminello.gail@wgmail.org
Cash: Please call the main office to arrange a time to drop off a cash donation.
*When possible, please be sure to put in the notes which collection you are donating to so that Mrs. Tumminello can keep an accurate count.
Thank you for your support!
