The McKelvey Messenger
September 4, 2020
From the Front Office
Congratulations to the whole village for two fantastic weeks of distance learning. We are learning more each and every day as we live through this time together. One of the challenges we knew we would face in these early days is the inability to hire substitute teachers for planned or emergency absences. But in true McKelvey fashion, we were committed to making these circumstances a little bit easier. Parents will continue to be notified by email, but in addition to having access to curriculum via video-taped lessons, we will also provide some type of live, face-to-face contact with a familiar staff member at various points of the day. Students (and families or caregivers) will be greeted live by a member of our school team and at the very least will be guided through what to expect for the day. We appreciate your support as we continue to get creative and make the most of a tough situation.
We wish you all a very safe, relaxing holiday weekend!

Happy Friday, McKelvey Families!
As we move further into virtual learning your child(ren) or family may have various needs arise:
- How can I help my child stay motivated to complete his or her work?
- How can I help my child maintain focus or attention?
- How can I help my child be more organized or independent?
- How can I help my child navigate Zoom?
- How can I contact Parkway's Technology Support Team?
- How can I get a Chromebook for my child?
- How do I apply for free or reduced meals?
- How can my family sign up for a meal box?
McKelvey’s school counselors are here to assist students and families with these needs and more! Please use this Counselor Connection Form to contact your child’s grade level counselor any time.
