Dred Scott (A Civil War slave)

  • He went to pursue his trial in 1847
  • 10 years later, his case was finally brought before the Supreme Court
  • His owner moved to a slave state in which he died in
  • He was found as a slave
  • His decision was a cause of the Missouri compromise
  • His extended stay in Illinois and Wisconsin gave him legal rights to make a vote for freedom
  • Went to trial for freedom in June of 1847, but lost due to a technicality
