February 3
Happy Monday, Mize Families!
I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful, sunny weather, and the Chiefs big win this last weekend. As a result, of their Super Bowl win, we will not have school on Wednesday nor will we have JCPRD. I hope you all have fun cheering on the Chiefs during the big parade!
With this, I also wanted to take a moment to thank all who joined us for our BINGO Night. We had plenty of gift baskets, prizes, pancakes, and fun for all! I was so glad to see so many families join us. A BIG thank you to our AMAZING PTO for all of their hard work and dedication in planning and preparing this event.
This Thursday, we have our first-grade music program at 6:30 in the evening. They have been hard at work practicing and preparing, so it should prove to be another great performance led by our amazing Mrs. Taber. I hope you can join us!
Conferences are coming up on February 12th and 13th. Your scheduled time should have come home with your child last week. If you are unable to attend, please contact your child’s teacher. In lieu of your absence, a phone conference may be arranged as an option at a mutually agreeable time. As a reminder, there is no school on February 14th and 17th.
Have a great week, everyone!
Ms. Balthazor
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The entire Kansas City metropolitan area prepares for a celebration of historic proportions this week to recognize the Kansas City Chiefs and their first Super Bowl championship in 50 years. In light of this significant regional event, USD 232 (De Soto) will be closed on Wednesday, February 5.
We do not take this decision lightly, as we understand the difficulty some parents may have with childcare. The decision to close school on Wednesday, Feb. 5, is related to city-wide concerns about available staffing and substitutes, along with the number of families and staff planning to attend the celebration. Our classes will resume on Thursday, Feb. 6.
Also on Wednesday, there will be no JCPRD care services available.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
USD 232 Administration

Parents and Guardians,

If you are a parent of a child with special needs and are preparing to transition your student to a new school setting within our school district for the 2020-21 school year, the USD 232 Special Services Advisory Committee (SSAC) would like to invite you to attend our Parent Forum on Transition on Tues., 2/25/2020 at 6:30 pm at Mill Creek Middle School.
Our families play an important role in supporting their child with special needs as they navigate different transitions throughout their school careers. At this forum, we will have staff available to share information and answer questions parents may have pertaining to transitions. If you are interested in attending on forum on Feb. 25, please register HERE.
