ART TO REMEMBER FUNDRAISER
Students are preparing beautiful art for our ART TO REMEMBER FUNDRAISER.
Families will see a flyer coming home soon and in March your personalized order forms will be sent home as well.
The cherished items make wonderful gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day and birthdays. Also, it's a great way to have a keepsake of your child's art throughout the years.
Please make note of the deadline for ordering when you get your order forms. ONLINE ordering is a fast easy way to place an order too!
A portion of the proceeds provide support for the art department.
Thank you!
Music Update from Mrs. McClanahan
In music we just finished a very exciting and rewarding concert in January, as many of you know. Thanks to all who attended. We have now moved on to composer explorations at the 2nd-5th grade levels; fifth grade - Bach, fourth grade - Beethoven, third grade - Mozart, and the 2nd grade - Prokofiev. The K5 and 1st grade students are enjoying the story "Bear Snores On" right now. If you just ask, they will gladly share the story with you. Happy February everyone!💗🎶
Guidance Update from Mrs. Michlig
Kindergarten-4th grade classes have been focusing on Protective Behaviors. We have worked on recognizing that if a touch is unsafe or unwanted, children have the right to refuse by saying stop and then reporting it to a trusted adult.
5th grade students have just completed a unit pertaining to drugs, including medications, alcohol, tobacco products and marijuana. They learned that drugs cause changes in the body, some which may be good, while others may be bad. Students should be able to identify the various areas on the drug continuum (non-use, responsible use, abuse and addiction). Assertive ways to say no and get out of potentially dangerous situations was also covered. We will start our Protective Behaviors lesson in the near future in 5th grade.
I always encourage students to talk to you about the subjects we cover. Please ask them about it!
Arrival and Dismissal
During dismissal, please have your name place card visible through the front window at pick-up time. If you need a new name card, please let us know. Just a reminder, there is no turn on red onto 47th St. Thank You.

EHSA Update
Edgewood Home and School association (EHSA) would like to say “Thank You” for coming out to support our school at Rocky Rococo Pizza Night and Culver’s Scoopie Night! A special thank you to the parents and volunteers who helped at the event. The profits from these events help fund classroom field trips, end of the year events, and provide resources for the classrooms.
To help support learning, EHSA purchased the television and dongles in the Learning Commons. This system provides our teachers and students with a wireless system for projecting their work from a computer to the screen during collaboration time and presentations.
Save the date and consider volunteering for our St. Patrick’s Day dance, March 16th!
Upcoming dates to remember:
Winter Spiritwear sale (online): March 5th-16th
Scholastic Book Fair (online and at school): March 14th-March 20th
