He was most known for his painting of The Yellow Christ, his self portraits, and paintings of Tahitian women. He stood out because of his "bold experimentation with coloring."

Life in Paris

He was born in Paris in 1848. He moved in and out of Paris until he settled down in 1871 and stayed in Paris because of his job and family, although he traveled a lot later in his life. Gauguin and Van Gogh worked together for a while until a violent incident ended their friendship.
Gauguin influenced other artists to have a more Synthetist style.
He was influnced by Paris because that's where he was raised.
