Holiday Traditions Around the World

Concluding our Holiday Unit

We are concluding our unit "Holiday Traditions Around the World" today with our own country, America. The students have truly enjoyed learning about the unique customs that are celebrated in different cultures around the world. We have even had other classrooms come to ask some of our students to explain some of the customs that we are learning about. Mrs. Dryden even gave us our very own showcase in the front of the school to display our awesome work. On Friday, some of our students will be sampling foods from some of the wonderful cultures that we have learned about. On the menu will be: latkes for Hanukkah, sausage and sauerkraut from Germany, pierogi from Poland, quesadillas from Mexico, and pasties from the UK. Check out some of our awesome work in the photos below!!

A Personal Note From The Desk of Ms. Stilwell

Parents....

As you are all aware, this past summer was extremely emotional for me losing both my grandfather and my mother. Because of this loss, I am currently spending more time outside of work taking care of my family and the obligations that come with that. I feel that over the course of time we have developed an excellent rapport and our communication is absolutely effective and solid. However, due to my increase in family obligations, I have to make a request: please keep texting to within school hours. Should you need to contact me outside of school, I would ask that you email me, and I will do my absolute best to reply within 24 hours. I apologize if this may seem inconvenient, however when I am not at work I am not always near my phone. The last thing I want is to make it seem as though I am ignoring a text when in actuality I am simply tied up with family obligations. I trust that you will all understand this, and I look forward to continuing on with our excellent communication throughout the remainder of the school year.

Happy Holidays to you all!!!
