DinoSOARin' through May
We did some dinosaur themed activities this week! We matched/identified shapes on dinosaurs, read a book about dinosaur prepositions, did a dinosaur memory game, created patterns with colored spikes, found missing numbers, made dinosaur footprints, and read a book about dinosaurs using their manners. During outside structured time, Ms. Sierra taught us what it means to be paleontologists! We brushed off/dug for dinosaurs beneath the sand, and then we did some dinosaur puzzles.
With our friends from Room 15 and Room 4, we were veterinarians for our toy dinosaurs. We also did several turn-taking activities. We talked about one of our Kimochis, Cloud, and how it is okay to feel mad, but it's not okay to be mean. During P.E., we rode cars and practiced climbing up and down on the toddler play structure. This week in speech rotations, we brushed up on direction/position concepts. We read Who is Under the Umbrella and identified animals that were under the umbrella. We learned about different types of direction/position concepts (e.g., in, on, under), and practiced following directions by placing objects in various positions (e.g., apple on the bed, egg in the cup, etc.). We also listened to a fun song where we had to put beanbags in various places on our bodies (e.g., on our head, between our feet, under our chin, etc.).
On Tuesday, we celebrated Ms. Lacy's birthday - happy birthday Lacy! On Wednesday, we had an earthquake drill, during which we practiced taking cover under the tables, and then evacuating the classroom. We all did a good job staying together during this drill!
