8th Grade Trip- 1st Letter 1/13/2020
January 13, 2020
Dear 8th Grade Students and Parents,
It is hard to believe we are already halfway through this school year, and that means before we know it graduation will be here. As many of you are aware, we have been working hard to raise money for our 8th grade graduation trip. It is our goal to raise enough money to pay for the trip transportation, which is about $9000. This will save each participant about $100 out of their own pocket for transportation.
Our 8th grade graduation trip is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th and Friday, May 29th. We are planning a fun filled two days. Our tentative schedule includes a visit to San Francisco, dinner at the Hard Rock Café, stop at Golden Gate Bridge, a visit and tour of the Jelly Belly Factory, and a fun filled day at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Needless to say, memories will be made that will last a lifetime and we will all be exhausted at the end of the trip.
Please be aware that students must meet the Diamond View graduation requirements in order to participate in the trip. Students must have at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA their eighth grade year, less than three demerits, be continuously enrolled at Diamond View for the entire third trimester, and pass the U.S. Constitution test. As always, safety of our students is a top priority; therefore, we will expect all students to exhibit exemplary behavior during every facet of the trip. If the DV administration and teachers feel at any time that a student will be a safety concern, that student will not be allowed to attend the trip.
In order to move forward with our planning for the trip, we need to get a good idea of how many students and parents will be attending. We believe the cost per person for hotel rooms and activities will be approximately $150. We need to start making reservations and buying tickets ASAP, so we are asking students and parents interested in attending to put down a $50 deposit by Friday, February 7th. This money will be used to secure tickets and hotel reservations. We will be asking for the second payment of $50 by March 6th and the final $50 payment by April 3rd. In addition, students will need to bring money on the trip for lunch the first day, dinner the second day and souvenirs.
Seating on the buses is limited, so reserve your spots today by sending the $50 deposit by Friday, February 7th. If you are interested in attending the trip as a chaperone, we would love to have you, and we MUST have an adult in every room. If you are planning to attend, please send a $50 deposit for yourself as well. Please make checks payable to Diamond View School. All deposits should be turned in to Mrs. Martin before school, at lunch, or after school. All parents attending the trip must be fingerprinted for the Susanville School District. Fingerprints are done for a minimal cost at the Lassen County Office of Education on Tues-Thurs from 1:30-4:00PM. If you are unsure if you have been fingerprinted for our district, you can check with our DV office.
We are looking forward to these next few months with the eighth graders and an amazing trip to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Martin at 257-5144 or email@example.com.
