A Principal's Perspective
This is the final reflection from Joshua Rhine. I want to thank Joshua for taking a personal risk in allowing me to share his thoughts with the GP staff. I felt his reflections really captured the heart of Chris Field's message that we could continue to ponder and apply during a busy spring season.
“There is always a cost for doing something great. The question is this… does the mission outweigh the price and fear of failure?”
"I love this last quote, it hits my soul like a ray of sunshine to the cold, wind-blown traveler. Everything we do as educators is based on a purpose. A wonderful purpose to take any child, every child, the Lord has placed under our care and to help them become better versions of themselves. How awesome is that? I hear teachers sometimes complain about this problem kid or that new regulation, and it is so easy to get pulled into the vortex of negativity. I have been there myself. What always brings me back is the love, the love I have for the kids and this profession. There is a supreme peace of mind in knowing that I was placed here at this school, at this time, with these particular students, for a reason. It is one that is far above my power of understanding. I know it will not be easy, and I actually take pride in that. My buddies are all “big bad businessmen,” and I am proud of this for them. They give me a hard time about all the dodgeball I must play during a day. They just don’t get it. Nobody does until they are here with us in the trenches. It is tough, terribly tough. It is pride swallowing and often thankless. It is painful and stress-inducing. Most of all, it is absolutely perfect. The impact is priceless and forever. I get to be a part of it all. I gladly pay the price."

News & Notes
- It is GP Rodeo time! We have had an overwhelming response from our community for sponsorships! We have struggled this year for volunteers since we moved the date from Big Event weekend. In addition, Chili Fest is the same weekend as the rodeo. We depend on our rodeo to raise funds for the school while at the same time bringing our school family together for a fun day! This is the school PTO event where the staff fully supports the event. How to help?
- Read the staff Smore about the rodeo. Link: Rodeo Teacher Help!
- Talk it up with your students.
- Send home rodeo brochure and other rodeo information.
- Plan to attend, volunteer, eat lunch, listen to the great bands, and have fun!
