PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
John 6:35
Kia Ora whanau,
Welcome to Week 5, a week focused on preparation. Preparation for Athletics on Friday, Holy Communion on Sunday, Teacher only work day on Monday, Room 5 trip to Ranui farm today, Room 1 & 3 camping day in Dannevirke, Room 4 EOTC, Room 6 EOTC, Road Patrollers visit to Splash Planet, Year 8 Retreat, our learners end of year written work and our teachers preparing to share written reports of their learners progress and achievement across the year. Peter tells us in 1 Peter 3:15, 16, “When anyone asks you to speak of your hope, be ready!. We ask Jesus to bless us as we navigate these final weeks of being ready.
Leading in Faith, Learning for Life
As some of our students prepare for the sacrament of Holy Communion, the rest of us prepare to support their journey. We do this by showing our support at Mass this Sunday 20th November at 9:30AM. Our tamariki are asked to wear their school uniform with pride. Our whanau are asked to being a small plate of food to share.
Please join us as we celebrate the following students as they continue to welcome Jesus into their lives. May they always know the peace of jesus, the light of his love, and the joy of his life.
I am sure almost all of us have fond memories of primary school. Playing with our friends on the playground, painting backdrops for plays, practicing performing plays from school journals, making fruit kebabs to show patterning, following the scientific method to explore science experiments, writing pages and pages worth of stories, building forts, gossiping and giggling.
Oh the fun experiences we reminisce about.
At St Joseph’s we continue to capture and build lasting living memories growing Aotearoa’s future Actors, Authors, Artists to name a few.
‘He poipoia te kakano he puawai’ - Nurture the seed and it will grow
At the A&P show last week we learned many lessons, the most important one being super quiet during the horse jumping. We look forward to supporting this community initiative in the future and incorporating it into our own local curriculum moving forward.
More Wonderful Staffing News
It is with the blessing of our Board of Trustees that we announce and congratulate Mrs. Sarah Hemi (Whaea Sarah) on the re appointment of her fixed term teaching contract with our school. Whaea Sarah is filled with knowledge, passion and a real creativity towards inspiring her students to engage in learning that is meaningful, relevant and challenging. Whaea Sarah has immersed herself in all sporting and education outside of the classroom initiatives and we are blessed to have her remain as part of our team.

COVID 19
Just an update for you from the Ministry of Health website regarding Public Health Measures for Isolation/Testing and Face Mask use.
Isolation and testing
If you develop COVID-19 symptoms get tested immediately.
Only people who test positive for COVID-19 are required to isolate for seven days.
Household contacts are recommended to take a rapid antigen test (RAT) every day for five days and avoid contact with the person who has had COVID-19 and vulnerable people.
Masks are required when visiting healthcare facilities like hospitals, GPs, pharmacies and aged residential care facilities.
Some places like workplaces or a marae may ask people to wear a mask.
Masks are strongly recommended for household contacts when leaving home.
