The 3D Printer is HERE!
We have the opportunity to have a 3D printer from Keystone at NFV High School. How cool is that? Currently, it has printed some mugs and cups for Mr. Bentley's drafting class. The Introduction to Engineering and Design is creating and printing a train set.
3D Printing
3D printing, also called additive manufacturing, is the process of building a model layer by layer from a digital design. 3D printers are being used to create prosthetics, bones, clothes, car parts, as well as many other things.
3D Printing Resources
Here is a link to 3D printing resources shared by Shannon McClintock Miller from Van Meter.
http://www.symbaloo.com/home/mix/13ePGWVQjdStudents from elementary through high school have begun to create, design and use 3D printers. The process lends itself to a wonderful problem solving process, especially if the design doesn't print as expected. Real life design problems are evaluated, planned and hopefully, solved.
Building Visits
Let us know if you would be interested in having a demonstration of the 3D printer for your students. In May, we will be scheduling some visits to the other buildings.
