Friday Folders
FYI - We did not send home Friday Folders this week because they were empty.
Math
We are wrapping up our Numbers 0-10 unit. We will be assessing each student individually to determine their understanding of this unit. Our assessments will be used to determine who has mastered the content and who needs extra support to meet the standards. While we assess, students will continue practicing math skills related to the unit in small group stations.
Reading
Our reading comprehension has improved significantly this year. We are predicting, retelling, and sharing our opinions about the story. Also, we introduced character traits. Students used words to describe the main character in the story, Otis. Then, they supported their idea with evidence from the text. Students have also become very familiar with sharing their thinking and work with their classmates.
Writing
In writing, we have focused on using our illustration to help tell our story. Students added detail to their illustrations to ensure that their audience could tell what they drew. We worked on making sense of our illustrations so that they connect to what we have written. We have incorporated sight words into our journal writing along with using the sounds they know to sound out the words they want to write.
