A Note From Mrs. Garrison

We had a great first week back to school! It was so good to see your children's smiling faces! Congratulations to the following students representing Powell at the annual C.I.S.D. Western Art Show tomorrow, January 12. Only a few pieces from each school are selected. So, this is quite an honor. The exhibit is in the 9th Grade Campus of Oak Ridge HS gymnasium from 11:00 to 12:30.

Help Sponsor the Powell Spring Carnival

Looking to sponsor something? How about an event at the Powell Elementary spring carnival! We are looking for individuals, families, or businesses to help sponsor games and activities. Each sponsor will have a sign placed at the respective booth listing the business or family name. Great advertising! Please see attached flyer for more information, or contact the carnival committee - carnival@powellpto.org.

GIRLS ON THE RUN (GOTR)

GIRLS ON TE RUN (GOTR) – Last fall we had over thirty 3rd and 4th grade girls participate in the GOTR program. GOTR is a program that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind! It is a 10-week program where the girl have developed essential skills to help them establish lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. GOTR inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun experience-base curriculum, which creatively integrates running.

We will doing GOTR again this spring. Registration for our spring 2019 group will start on January 14th and the season will begin the week of February 4th. Please go to www.gotrgreaterhouston.org or email Pam Owens @ powens@conroeiesd.net for more information.

Zoning Information

An Attendance Boundary Committee (ABC) was formed this year for the purpose of creating the attendance zone for Suchma Elementary, a K-6 campus that will open in August, 2019 in the Harpers Preserve neighborhood. After several meetings of reviewing community feedback and input and evaluating dozens of possible scenarios, the ABC has released the scenario that it intends to recommend to the Board in January at

When the decision is finalized, we will communicate further.
