APRES Dolphins SWIM - March '21
An Extraordinary Place to Learn
A Message from Principal Wilson
We are quickly approaching the end of 3rd quarter! Our scholars have a few more days to complete missed assignments, prepare for upcoming classroom assessments, and finalize their plans for Spring Break, which will be here in the next few weeks. Can you believe it?
As we prepare to go into the final quarter of this school year, which by the way, has been like none we've ever experience, it is important that we maintain our focus on academic achievement and student achievement. I am aware that there have been some errors in the attendance reports recently. This concern has been shared with our district level team and will hopefully be addressed in the coming days.
What can parents do to assist with this? Please be sure if your student is learning online, that he/she logs in by 7:40AM each day and actively engages in every learning block. If your student is face-to-face, please be sure to arrive by 7:35AM, so that your son or daughter is ready to begin the school day promptly at 7:40AM. Make sure that you scholars are completing and submitting assignments on time and that you maintain communication with your teacher as concerns arise. The classroom teacher is always the first point of contact with concerns about attendance or grading.
Our 3rd-5th grade scholars are working diligently in our SWIM Success Academy Model which allows our teachers to spiral in standards that were taught earlier this year to make sure that they are refreshed and ready for the Georgia Milestones Assessment Series (GMAS) coming in April. More information will be shared with parents about the GMAS after Spring Break. Look for an invitation from our Assistant Principal, Ms. Mack to attend a GMAS parent informational in early April.
Spring Break is fast approaching. This year Spring Break is the week of April 5-9, however, you should have received communication recently from the district that all schools will remain in Remote Learning the week of April 12-16, 2021. What does this mean? It means that while students will be expected to log in to class the week of April 12-16, they will work remotely from home. The building will not be open for staff or students during that week.
Also on the horizon, all Elementary Schools in Fulton County will be in Remote Learning on March 22-24, 2021. Please plan accordingly as the school building will not be open for students on those days.
Don't forget there is NO SCHOOL for students on this Friday, March 12th and Monday, March 15th. School will resume in both F2F and RL on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
Please do not send your scholar to school if you or someone your scholar comes in contact with is pending a COVID test result or has tested positive for COVID. Thank you for ensuring we are all surviving during this pandemic.
Pay special attention to the district website (www.fultonschools.org) for COVID-19 updates, protocols for reporting, and any changes that may impact schools.
Dolphin family, I cannot thank you enough for your words of encouragement, your diligence in making sure our scholars stay the course and continue to work hard each day despite the circumstances, and for your commitment to making Randolph Elementary extraordinary. Parents like you make the work we as educators do, even more rewarding. We are so happy to share in this journey with you. As always, feel free to contact me directly with questions or concerns.
In Partnership,
Principal Wilson, Proud Dolphin
Student Learning Environment for Final 9-Weeks
Please be reminded that parents do not have the option for their scholars to switch back and forth between learning environments at will. If you have chosen a learning environment that is the only way your scholar is expected to access school each day. You may not have your scholar attend Remote Learning one day and switch to Face-to Face the next or vice versa. Once you have committed to the learning environment your scholar must remain there through May.
There will be no considerations for changing any scholars learning environment after Friday, March 12th!
Parent and Scholar Safety Expectations During the Pandemic
Parents, you will be called to pick your child up if your child does not feel well, is complaining of a stomach-ache, headache, or any other symptoms of COVID-19. You will have a maximum of 30 minutes to pick up your scholar when you are informed that he/she is ill. Please have a plan in place for when your scholar feels sick and needs to be picked up. Failure to pick up your sick child will result in a Social Worker referral. Thank you for your continued support in keeping everyone safe.
I want to encourage you to stay vigilant about your adherence to those important COVID-19 preventative measures: wearing a mask, washing your hands, and maintaining a social distance of six feet. And if your scholar is ill or has been exposed to a positive COVID-19 individual, he/she is NOT allowed to come to school or to any school-sponsored events.
In effort to keep our scholars and staff healthy and safe, we want to share a few reminders:
- Students are expected to arrive to school wearing and required to wear a face covering/mask while at school. Staff are also required to wear face coverings.

Building Parent Capacity Through Hands On Math Experiences
It is important for us to engage scholars in hands on experiences both at school and at home. As we approach Spring, many of us will take advantage of planting flowers while enjoying the outside air. See the link below for ways to engage your scholar in gardening while using some of the skills learned in math.
