Help Wanted!
This year we are in need of hallway monitors/volunteers for the EOG’s. While monitoring hallways is certainly not an exciting job, it’s essential to providing all students with a positive testing environment. As a Wiley family, we look forward to another opportunity to pull together to support our students, staff and school!
What Does an EOG Volunteer Do?
BEFORE TESTING
- Please Arrive on time (9:00am)
- Check in with Stacey & Eman to get your final directions.
- Double check your assigned location for items hanging up/on display
DURING TESTING
- Monitor the Hallway you are assigned to
- Guide students who need a restroom break, making sure they are silent and not too many are in the restroom at once.
- Silently circulate throughout the hallway to check if any testing classrooms need assistance.
- Report any questions to the test administrator Stacey or Eman.
AFTER TESTING
- Check in with Stacey & Eman to check out.
TRAINING:
Although most of our volunteers are hallway monitors there will be a testing security video you can watch from home! Once you sign up, Stacey & Eman will email you further information regarding 1) testing security video link; 2) confirmation of your date and time.
Please contact our Testing Coordinators with any questions:

Test Taking Tips for Parents
- Getting good sleep every night is a good strategy. Before a test it is even more important. They will be able to focus and concentrate better when they are well rested.
- Make sure your child eats a nutritious breakfast before taking the test. Try to avoid sugary or heavy foods.Studies suggest that good nutrition is related to improved attention and concentration.
- Make the morning of the test a pleasant one. Try to do extra things that make them laugh, smile, and relax.
- Try not to put too much pressure on your child. Reinforce that as long as they worked hard and did their absolute best that you will be proud of him/her.
- Make sure your child arrives to school on time the days of the tests so that they do not miss any instructions and are allowed ample time to settle in and relax before testing begins.
- Remind your child to listen carefully to the instructions from the teacher and to read the directions and each question carefully. Teach them to slow down, trust their instincts, and give their best effort.
- Encourage your child to stay focused on the test, even if other students finish early. It is human nature to want to speed up when others around you are already finished. Teach your child to start strong, stay focused in the middle, and finish just as strong as you started.
- After the test, talk to your child about his/her feelings about the test, making sure you acknowledge the effort such a task requires. Discuss what was easy and what was difficult. Ask what your child what he/she learned from the test and what changes your child would make next time.
