Please be sure to check out the HAC system. This system is designed for parents and students to keep a close eye on grades at any point. If you notice that their is a blank (missing grade), please understand that the grade as NOT been entered yet. This DOES NOT mean there is a zero for that grade. If a student has earned a zero, a "0" will be entered next to the assignment's name. A zero will be removed when the student completes the assignment and the teacher has taken time to grade/enter the grade on the computer.

Clarification on use of vocabulary cards and notes during assessments for Social Studies and Science:
It has been brought to our attention that some parents disagree with Mrs. Hernandez and Mrs. Forsyth's policies regarding the use of vocabulary cards or notes during tests or quizzes. We always appreciate parents' opinions and suggestions. However, as bilingual education teachers, Mrs. Hernandez and Mrs. Forsyth's main objective is to do what is in the best academic interest for our students.
Please know that the main purpose of the vocabulary cards in our classes is to help our students learn the vast academic vocabulary required to be successful in our classes that are the Spanish component of the 5th grade DL program. The cards allow students to study/practice the important words that will be essential for them to learn in order to apply concepts to answer the required assessments per unit. Also, we ask that you consider that it is your child's responsibility to study and learn the vocabulary. Having the words and definitions available during an assessment in Spanish will not provide answers to the tests or quizzes, but instead will be an opportunity for the students to verify the meaning of words that allow them to understand the question in Spanish and then they will be better able to make their own conclusions to answer the tests.
Thank you for your support at home and for communicating your concerns with us.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Forsyth and Mrs. Hernandez
