From the Middle EMS and ELA
News from the Principal, July 30, 2020
Hello Parents and Families,
Hopefully you are continuing to receive the updates and information from Englewood Schools. As we get closer to the beginning of the school year, this newsletter will be my main form of communication, and the district website as well as district emails will be the best way to find the most current information.
If you know of neighbors and other family members who are not receiving these communications, please pass along this newsletter. Parents and guardians can update email information at any time on the Parent Portal so you receive these emails.
Hopefully you received my letter to families yesterday. You will find it linked here.
The most important piece of that letter is our request that parents and students choose either in-person or remote learning for back to school in August. This choice can be changed at quarter if necessary. The survey is also linked below:
If at anytime, you have questions, please email me.
~Annessa Hart, Principal
We will continue to develop plans for the 20-21 school year with guidance from CDPHE, Tri-County Health, CDE, and the governor's office. Recommendations change daily, and our plan will be flexible and responsive to the changing guidance.
Parent and Student Choice
In-Person Learning will include "rolling remote" based on state and city mandates as well as outbreaks within the district and/or school.
E-Learning will be fully online for all subjects/classes.
For the 20-21 school year, in-person learning will also include "rolling remote." If a school experiences an outbreak or if the state or city deems Stay at Home orders are necessary, in-person students and staff will move to remote learning.
Englewood Families interested in online learning for 20-21 will join the E-Learning School. If students/families want to move to in-person learning, this can be done at quarter. Students do not lose their spots at EMS/ELA for in-person learning.
State Guidance for In-Person Learning
Currently, our state is in level two, "Safer at Home."
Our three plans below address the newest regulations specific to in-person learning models.
If our state, county, or city is placed in "Stay at Home" restrictions, all in-person students and staff will move to "Rolling Remote." This approach is more robust than our emergency remote approach from last spring as we have had time to plan.
Level 2 includes: 1. Daily temp checks/health screens, 2. Staff/students wearing masks full time and social distancing, 3. Frequent surface cleaning and hand washing, 4. Small cohorts with restricted adult interaction (3 adults per group).
When we are on level 3, the state recommendations are less restrictive. This In-Person learning plans allows for a more typical school day, including a 7-period schedule and larger cohorts.
