A note from Mrs Lawrence...
Dear Parents and Carers,
This is probably the hardest and most unusual letter I have had to write during my time as a school leader. I love our school and I am very sad that at this time we can no longer provide the brilliant primary education that we all work so hard, as a team, to deliver.
We recognise that this is an uncertain, unprecedented time for everyone and we want to reassure our children and their families that we are still here to support you. Throughout our time of closure, we will continue to be in contact with all our families through online communication. Each class has an email address which children and parents can use to keep in touch with their class teachers. These will be checked and responded to on a Monday morning and occasionally throughout the week. And of course parents can email the admin email address which will be checked regularly.
Each child has brought home an exercise book this evening, so that they can record their learning. In the front cover, we have added a sticker with email details and any logins children might need during this period. All children also have an email account which they can use to keep in touch with their teacher and share fantastic learning.
The information that has been sent home supports the learning that can be found on our website and class teachers will email the children each Monday morning to check in and set new learning tasks.
I thank you in advance for the support you are being asked to provide for the children’s continued education. It is important that their minds are kept sharp, as one day this situation will end, school will recommence and we will return to our normal day to day lives.
To spread a bit of positivity in difficult times, each child has created a message for the community, which they are planning to display in a front window of their home. This way, we can remember how strong we are as a school and although we cannot be together, we can still SHINE!
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks and admiration to the dedicated and committed staff team that I have the privilege of working with here at SMPS. They've risen to new challenges this week and have worked with pace and diligence in imperfect and unprecedented circumstances.
I would also like to thank the parents for the kindness they have shown myself and the staff this week. It has been an incredibly hard week for us all, and knowing that we are appreciated and supported has really help to keep our spirits high.
School will close to the majority of children tonight and we send our best wishes to those families we will not see for a while.
Please do contact us if we can be of support in any way. I will continue to remain in contact with you through our admin email and the school website, and sincerely hope you and your families and loved ones remain safe during this time.
Kindest regards to you all

PTA News
Thank you to everyone for your support over the year - it is because of you that the children are now using 16 new Chromebooks in their lessons, which just shows how invaluable your help is.
We hope to be back as soon as we possibly can but, in the meantime, if you would like to know how you can continue to support the school during the closure, please contact us through our Facebook page @SouthMilfordPTA or by email at southmilfordpta@outlook.com
