FPBS Friday Footnotes
November 5th, 2021
Dear FPBS Community,
We hope you had a wonderful Halloween weekend! After speaking with students throughout the week, it seems like they all had the opportunity to go Trick-or-Treating in the neighborhood and had a blast doing it!
We are excited to announce that our PTA Scholastic Book Fair was the largest book fair on record with 1,724 books added to home libraries. These 1,724 books will generate approximately 310,320 minutes of independent reading! Thank you all again for your participation.
Looking ahead, there are several important dates to make note of. Tomorrow, FPBS will be hosting the annual Blood Drive in our New Gym. The event starts at 9:30 and continues until 3:30. For more information, please see the attached flyer at the bottom of the newsletter. In addition, on November 18th and 19th, we will be conducting Parent-Teacher Conferences. Again, there is more detailed information located at the bottom of this newsletter.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. DeKams
Weekly Highlights!
Ms. DiMiceli's Class 2F
Ms. DiMiceli's class has been learning about habitats. We created a habitat in a shoebox where students got to create their favorite one.
In addition, Class 2F will be doing a kindness challenge for each month. This month we made goodie bags for children in the hospital that will not get to go Trick-or-Treating this Halloween. To go along with this activity, we read The Good, The Bad, and The Spooky. The lesson in the story is that Halloween is about so much more than the costumes you wear and the parties you attend. In our case, we took a step back from all of the Halloween activities to make other children smile.
Class 3A had a blast at the Halloween Parade!
Mrs. Balzano's Pre-K Class
Mrs. McCullough and Mrs. Rispoli's Class KD
Mrs. McCullough & Mrs. Rispoli's class wore red on Monday, October 25 to Kick off Red Ribbon week. Class KD enjoyed painting pumpkins and making ghosts to decorate our classroom for Halloween. Mrs. Biswas and Mrs. Robinson joined in the fun! We all had fun marching in the Halloween Parade! It was a fun filled week at FPBS!

Mrs. Goldberg's Class 4B Landforms Research

PTA Membership Information
The Floral Park-Bellerose School needs your support. Not only does more memberships support PTA advocacy efforts, allowing Nassau county more votes on state and national PTA issues, it allows the FPBS PTA to contribute to the school’s positive environment (suggested donations such as a book vending machine to support the school’s PBIS program), host many great programs throughout the year (such as the Book Fair) and conduct many great fundraisers (like the pie sale). While Covid restrictions have limited some in-person programs we are looking forward to using funds to make this school year fun, safe and productive!
And remember, being a member does not obligate you to go to meetings or serve on a committee.
This is the place to join!
