Our classrooms are getting ready to welcome students. We are excited for the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you for partnering with us on this journey in your child’s education.

3:30 - 4:00 pm: New Family Welcome & Tours (1st - 6th grade). Please meet in the Community Room.


4:00 - 5:30pm: Meet the teacher and drop-off school supplies

First Day of School Arrival


On the first day of school - classroom teachers will meet students on the playground. (locations identified on the map).

All Westridge staff will be outside to welcome students! Staff members will guide students to their classroom teachers as they arrive by car, bus, Kids West, etc. Classroom teachers will then walk students into the building.

To keep everyone safe, we ask that families drop off their student. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Feel free to stop by WR on Monday and Tuesday to take back-to-school photos!

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Early Dismissals

Don't forget...every Wednesday is an early dismissal at 3:10 pm. This includes the first day of school. Please make necessary arrangements.

1st & 3rd Wednesday

The fist Wednesday of the month is our Positivi-Tee Day, where we encourage staff and students to wear a shirt with a positive message.


The third Wednesday of the month, we encourage staff and students to wear Westridge attire or school colors.

Message from the PTA

At Westridge, our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has a long-standing, strong tradition of volunteering and supporting academic, school, and community activities. We invite you to come to the PTA meetings, talk to other parents, and ask questions.

Information from Departments:

Nutrition: West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) Nutrition Services makes sure our students get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow during the school day. Our focus is on children's health and well-being. Classroom achievement starts with proper nutrition and a balanced meal.

Transportation: The WDMCS Transportation Department strives to serve the needs of our students and to provide safe, efficient transportation to school and school-related activities.
