April 8, 2022
Dear Conover Road Primary School Families,
It was so wonderful to start out this month seeing so many of our families at Bell Works for our Scoops and Stories event! Thank you to Mrs. Sposito and Mrs. Frick for your roles in coordinating this special CRPS family evening! Everyone enjoyed the ice cream from Jersey Freeze and the spirit of community as we enjoyed many staff members share Beth Ferry's stories. Ms. Ferry is a New York Times bestselling author of books such as Stick and Stone, Land Shark, and Ten Rules of the Birthday Wish. She will be visiting our school on May 3rd and will conduct assemblies for students in grades K, 1, and 2. She will teach about the writing and publishing process and allow children to participate in a Q & A session after each assembly. If you would like to purchase a book to be autographed by Beth Ferry, please fill out the attached order form and return it to school with your child before Spring Recess.
If you have a child that will be five years of age on or before October 1, please make sure to register your child for the 2022-2023 Kindergarten offering. Early registration will allow your child to be invited to our Kindergarten Preview event this spring. For your planning purposes our Kindergarten Preview is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7th.
April is the Month of the Military Child as well as Autism Awareness Month. Both of these important themes will be addressed at two separate School Wide Meetings. Additionally, on Friday, April 29th, our first grade students will be participating in an Arbor Day Celebration with the Monmouth County Shade Tree Division and County Commissioner Lillian Burry. Children will be sharing poems and songs that honor our environment before helping us to plant a new tree on our school grounds. First grade students will each receive a tree sappling for them to care for and nurture at home.
Please note that Thursday, April 14 is a Short Session Day with a 1:00 dismissal. Schools will be closed for Spring Recess from Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 24. Schools will reopen on Monday, April 25.
Enjoy the wonderful weekend ahead and all of the outdoor time that these sunny spring days have to offer!

Celebrate "Purple Up Day" on Thursday, April 14
April is dedicated as the "Month of the Military Child," and we will celebrate our military childrenby wearing purple to school on Thursday, April 14 for our "Purple Up Day." Purple references the joint environment of the military, encompassing all service branches, Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Veterans. Purple combines each branch's colors into one: the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard all use shades of blue, the Army uses green, and the Marines use red.
