France is located in Europe and has an average gross income of 38,427.35. Their average climate is 6ºC to 26ºC, which is about 45ºF to 80ºF. France is the leading tourist destination with 87 million visitors in 2013, which is 7% of their GDP.

Cultural Information

Many people associate France with Paris, but the country is more than just it's capital. Most people speak French but there's a portion of people who speak some German, Flemish, Arabic, and even some Italian. Most people living in France believe in Catholicism, 64% of the population is identified as Roman Catholic. Some of the music genres listened to most commonly include gregorian, classical, opera, and folk. Their music doesn't range as much as the United States does.

Political Information

France has a constitutional republic government. The country of France emerged from the fragmentation of the larger Carolingian empire. Early wars were fought over land with English monarchs, then against Habsburgs, especially after the latter inherited Spain and appeared to surround France. French royal power reached its peak with the reign of Louis XIV. Royal Power collapsed fairly quickly after Louis XIV and within a century, France experienced the French Revolution and established a republic.

Famous Historical Event

Recently there have been two bombing attacks on France, the attack in Brussels which happened on March 22, 2016 and the bombing in Paris which occurred on November 13th, 2015. Both attacks are believed to be terrorist attacks by ISIS.

Famous People From France

Some famous people that come from France are Catherine Deneuve, Christopher Lambert, Tony Parker, and Carla Bruni. Catherine was an actress and is still alive today at the age of 72. Christopher is an actor who is 59 years old and comes from Paris. Tony is a professional French basketball player making $12.5 million(USA) at the age of 33. Carla is an Italian-French singer-songwriter at the age of 48.

Popular Tourist Attraction

A popular attraction in France is the Eiffel Tower located in Paris, the capital. The tower is 1,063 feet tall which is about the same height as an 81 story building. There are 300 steps from the ground to the first level and another 300 from the first to the second. Work on the foundation of the Eiffel Tower began on January 28th, 1887 and they finished the foundation on July 30th. The first level was completed by the end of March 1888. The second level was finished August 21st, 1888. The whole tower was finished on March 15th, 1889. The Eiffel Tower had its 250 millionth tourist in 2010. Many people dream of seeing the Eiffel Tower and many go see it.

Exposé

The French normally buy loaves of bread everyday to have fresh bread for meals, they do not refrigerate milk until it's opened, and a lot of the foods we eat cam from the French like crepes, croissants, and even our french toast has in a way come from them. France has also been known as one of the most dominant agriculture centers in Europe. France also has the highest amount of bovines in their livestock.

Culinary Contribution

French cuisine was heavily influenced by the Italian cuisine. Foods that are often associated with France is cheese, wine, souffles, ratatouille, bread, and onion soup. The french chefs spend a lot of time preparing their food and they run things differently at restaurants. At restaurants the waiters take the order of everything you want at once rather than bothering you multiple times.

Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients --

1 2⁄3 cups heavy cream

2 tsp. vanilla extract

1⁄2 tsp. kosher salt

4 egg whites

1⁄2 cup sugar

6 oz. bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled

Chocolate shavings, to garnish

Instructions --

In a large bowl, beat cream, vanilla, and salt with a whisk until stiff peaks form; chill. In another large bowl, beat egg whites with a whisk until soft peaks form. While whisking, slowly add sugar, and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Add melted chocolate to egg whites, and fold until almost incorporated; add whipped cream and fold until completely incorporated. Divide among serving cups; chill. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings before serving.
